Extended Services

  • Extended Services

    We work in partnership with other schools and local services to provide opportunities, information and support to our students and their families.

    Some of these services will be provided on the school site by staff or partners. Others will take place within the local community. The school can help you with information and support to access these services

    We are an Extended School delivering and supporting these activities and services to promote the well-being of our children and young people and to help them achieve their full potential.

Childcare

  • Nottinghamshire Families Information Service (FIS) provides information about local services, support and activities, including childcare for families with children and young people up to the age of 20 years.

    They can search your local area and give you up to date information on registered childcare, including day nurseries, out of school clubs, pre-schools and childminders. They can tell you about the support available to cover the costs of childcare, or support you if you are looking to become a registered childminder

    They can also provide information about childcare, activities and support services for children and young people with learning difficulties or disabilities and their families.

Activities for Children & Young People

  • A wide range of activities are available to pupils every evening at Redhill School through our Redhill Academy. Please see our Summer Programme to find out what’s available.

    11th Session Performing Arts Workshops offer young people (aged 7-19 years) FREE arts opportunities in Music, Dance and Drama on Saturday mornings during school term times. Any child or young person who attends a Nottinghamshire County Council maintained school or who lives in Nottinghamshire can take part. Special Educational Needs Coordinators and Support Assistants are available for those who require additional support.

They can provide information about local clubs and activities at local leisure centres, coaching and volunteering opportunities and local projects and events.     The Youth Service works with young people aged 10-25 to support their personal & social development, their health and well being, and to have a voice and a positive place in society and in their communities. They provide young people with something to do, somewhere to go and someone to talk to through clubs, mobile teams & projects and events.www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/youthzone

    The Play Service supports playschemes and out of school clubs for children between 5 and 14 years by providing advice, training in playwork and money to help pay for play equipment. It also organises playdays and runs a bank of playworkers. Contact: 01636 593930

    Sure Start Children's Centre services bring together childcare, early education, health and family support services for families with children under 5 years old to help babies and young children have the best start in life.

Parenting Support & Family Learning

  • At Redhill we offer a range of activities and information to support parents to support their children, and to support parents in developing their own learning and opportunities.

    Parent Support Advisors (PSA’s) work with schools to provide families with additional personal support and help to access other services. They can assist with a range of parenting and family issues and provide a little bit of extra help and advice, quickly and flexibly when families need it. The PSA in the Redhill Family is Sophie Denman. Contact :sophie.denman@nottscc.gov.uk or speak to your school to find out more.

    Parentzone is an online information service for parents and carers to find out about things to do, get advice and services and join local parents groups and networks. www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/parentzone

    Parentline Plus is a national charity that provides on-going support to families to help them with the everyday challenges and demands of parenting. They provide free and flexible information, advice and support on-line and over the telephone, and provide links to local groups and services. Contact: 0808 800 2222 www.parentlineplus.org.uk

    Home Access is a government programme to support low-income families to get a computer and internet access at home. Grants for a computer and internet packages can be provided for families with children in Years 3 – 9 (usually ages 7 -14 years) who attend a state-maintained school in England and who are eligible for free school meals.     A range of adult and family learning opportunities are offered within the Redhill Family and the local community.  Delivered in partnership with local colleges and Adult and Community Learning Services.     Gedling Community & Voluntary Services (CVS) is an independent organisation that works to support and develop voluntary and community activity. It can advise and support local groups and help link people to volunteering opportunities. It also runs a transport scheme, a health network and a health trainer programme to support local people to improve their health. www.gedlingcvs.org.uk

Extended Services in Action

  • Get Out-of School activities for free!

    The Government has given all schools money to support some groups of children & young people to take part in out-of-school activities. These activities can be in school or in the local area. They can be before or after school, at weekends or during school holidays. What your child does and where they go, will depend on their interests. The money we have can be used to cover fees, or equipment or transport costs, depending on what will be the most useful to you.

    Pupils performing with Nottingham Playhouse

    Pupils from Redhill School took part in a week of youth theatre with the Nottingham Playhouse during Febuary half term. Participants worked with other young people from the Gedling area to produce a final piece that was performed to friends and family members and to young people from across the city. Talented performers and technicians have been selected to continue working with the Playhouse with their performance Blood Wedding.

    Summer Scheme to help new pupils settle in

    Redhill School will be offering new pupils the chance to take part in a week of fun, free activities during the summer holidays, as a way to meet staff and make new friends, to find their way around and settle in to their new school. An exciting programme of musical activities, performances and days out are planned. Invitations will soon be going out to selected Year 6 pupils. For more information please speak to your Primary Headteacher or Mr Sherlock at Redhill School.

    Pupil Panel gives money to good ideas

    Pupil representatives from across the family of schools are meeting to assess applications for money from other groups of pupils.  Each school term the group has £1,000 to give to projects and ideas that will improve the lives of local children & young people. Pupils from Redhill lead the meetings and support other pupils to share their views and reach decisions, other Redhill pupils form part of the panel and make decisions.
